India will open the market for legumes for Ukraine and become one of the largest sales markets for it.

This was reported in the State Council "Community of Producers and Consumers of Legumes of Ukraine".

It is noted that the conference "Legumes - the future of the planet" will be attended by Sunil Kumar Singh, Managing Director of the National Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of India, as a VIP speaker. This organization has a direct influence on the decision by the Government of India to abolish quotas on the import of legumes into its territory.

Within the framework of the conference, it is planned to hold a number of bilateral meetings of officials of the Ukrainian and Indian sides.

“It is important that the Indian government has already approved the import of lentils from Russia, reduced the country's dependence on Canada and Australia, which were almost the only suppliers of this product. This step has led to a decrease in the cost of imported lentils by 2.5% in a number of ports of the country, "- noted in the State Council" Community of Producers and Consumers of Legumes of Ukraine ".

The union representatives add that today the prices for lentils in India are at an all-time high: whole lentils cost $ 1.08 per 1 kg in bulk, and retail - more than $ 1.35 per kg. Canadian lentils were bought and sold at a price of $ 70.39 per centner in the port of Mundra in February 2021.The equivalent is now trading at $ 101.53 per centner, which is 46% more.

Let us remind you that Turkey set zero duties on grain imports by the end of the year.
