Ukrainian potato growers will be able to receive compensation from the state budget for the construction of refrigerators and workshops for potato processing. The state compensates for up to 50% of the cost of building and equipping such facilities. The corresponding decree of the Cabinet of Ministers was published last week.

Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No.1008 "On Approval of the Procedure for Using Funds Provided in the State Budget for State Support of Potato Producers" suggests that budgetary funds for state support of agricultural producers who are engaged in potato cultivation will be directed to "stimulate an increase in potato planting areas, production volumes, increasing the capacity of its storage and processing", indicated in the Ukrainian Association of Potato Producers (UAIK).

Budget funds will be provided on a non-refundable basis up to 50% of the cost (excluding VAT) of the new construction of refrigerators for storing grown potatoes (potato storages), workshops for the primary processing of grown potatoes, built and put into operation.

State support, which is provided during one budget period of an agricultural producer, cannot exceed more than 10 thousand of the minimum wage established as of January 1, 2021. It is worth noting that this year the cost of infrastructure facilities put into operation from November 1, 2020 to October 31, 2021 will be compensated.
