According to the monitoring results of the State Consumer Service, the temperature regime and a sufficient amount of food in the overwhelming majority of the territory of Ukraine ensure satisfactory vital functions of mouse-like rodents.

But, despite this, experts say, there is no significant increase in the number and active dispersal of rodents. In the sowing of winter crops in almost all regions, there are 1-3 max. up to 4 inhabited colonies / ha with 2-7 inhabited burrows.

In perennial grasses inhabited by rodents, gardens, arable land, fields after row crops, there are 1-5 foci of up to 6 residential colonies / ha with the number of residential burrows per colony - 2-10 pieces. With a weak and medium degree, rodents damaged 1-2% of winter grain and rapeseed plants, perennial grasses.

In closed stations, murine rodents are found everywhere. In granaries, the percentage of falling into traps is 1%, in food warehouses - 2%. According to the species composition, the house mouse prevails.

The threat of an increase in the number and harmfulness of murine rodents, primarily in winter crops, bordering on bad weather and perennial grasses, is likely with a stable snow cover, under which, if there is a sufficient amount of food, the rodents continue to reproduce.

The intensity of further development and distribution, as well as the level of harm, will be determined, first of all, by weather conditions and the effectiveness of extermination measures carried out in areas with a rodent density of more than 3-5 colonies / ha, through the introduction of permitted rodenticides into residential holes.
