Breeders create peach-flavored blueberries
The American company "Fall Creek Farm & Nursery" has introduced two new varieties of blueberries, which are distinguished by frost resistance and large berry sizes: Olympus Blue and Peachy Blue.
Olympus Blue was developed with expert input from the University of Georgia and tested in southern Spain. This variety is suitable for transport. Suitable for planting in warmer regions, and the growing season lasts 3-4 months. Olympus Blue has a high yield, the berries are sweet with moderate acidity. In addition, the taste improves after several days of refrigeration.
Peach Blue is bred for planting at high altitudes and in cold regions. The main feature of the fruit is its unique peach aroma. The size of the berries is 16-18 mm.
So far, the varieties are grown in small areas in commercial gardens. The company said it will only sell a limited number of seedlings.
