Breeders have developed new varieties of sweet peppers without seeds

Agricultural products

Israeli breeders have developed three varieties of sweet peppers without seeds.

The developer of the new varieties is Breedx. Today, Breedx's sweet mini peppers are marketed under the Pepperito brand and focus on two types 1Bite up to 6cm in length and mini-Kapia 8-15cm in length. These peppers can be propagated simply by planting seeds. Additional seedless sweet peppers are now in the final breeding stage. Soon they can be propagated with the help of seeds, industrial production of products will begin and it will be widely sold.

Now seedless peppers are only available in red and orange. However, the breeders of the company plan to bring to the market peppers of other colors (yellow, green, etc.) in 2-3 years.

Today, seedless Breedx peppers are commercially grown in Spain for European markets, Mexico and Canada for North American markets, and South Africa and Israel for local needs. Testing continues in other markets.

Created from 12 years of Syngenta development and continued by BreedX, SLP contains a unique set of genetic traits.

SLP is a combination of two natural components of pepper - male sterility and parthenocarp (the ability of a pepper to set fruit without pollination).

The breeding itself is based on the classic methods of crossing and selection without any genetic modification (no GMO).
