Pick it yourself: on a Transcarpathian farm, you can pick peaches yourself
Visitors to the farm in the village of Chaslovtsy, in Transcarpathia, can independently pick peaches and apricots.
The farm began to let people in so that they could see the conditions in which the fruits were grown, and could independently choose those apricots or peaches that they liked the most.
“It's very atmospheric here. You come as if to your garden. You see these trees well-groomed, you see what kind of work a person put in here. We also have a garden at home, but it is a lot of work to grow such trees, and to keep them in such good condition. The taste of these fruits is very good, as sweet as homemade. It is somehow so touching: you came, collected it yourself and then you try it, ”says Tatyana Danchkanich, a visitor to the farm.
The farm has been operating for six years. Peach, apricot, plum and sweet cherry trees are grown on 5 hectares. It was decided to invite people here for harvesting this year for the first time.
“In the markets and supermarkets of our city, we saw that mostly unripe fruits were there. And then we decided to allow consumers to visit our garden. Families come from Uzhgorod, Mukachevo, Svalyava. Some people need fruit for jam, someone for canning, someone just needs to eat. Right now, the late apricot is coming to an end, and we are switching to the late peach,” said Nikolai Petrun, chief specialist of the farm.
