In September 2021, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 3.8 million tons of grain cargo - a record figure over the past 10 years.

According to Oleksandr Zaruba, director for commercial work and logistics at Ukrzaliznytsia, the company managed to achieve such results thanks to well-coordinated work and efficient organization of transportation.

“In 2019-2020. grain transportation was carried out according to clearly defined traffic schedule lines, according to the block train schedule. This negatively affected the quality and speed of transportation of other cargoes of iron ore, coal, etc. This year we have moved away from this practice, because we must satisfy all customers on equal terms, regardless of the type of cargo. But thanks to the intensification of dispatching work, cargo stations, we have already managed to show the best result in the transportation of grain since 2011,” said Alexander Zaruba.

He also added that UZ is well placed to export a record amount of grain this year.

In September, Ukrzaliznytsya daily on average loaded 118.9 thousand tons of grain, which is 30.6% more than in September 2020 and 10.6% more than in September 2019.
