Uzbekistan displaces Ukrainian cherries
Uzbekistan is a competitor of Ukraine in the production of cherries not only in the foreign market, but also in the last two years - in the domestic market.
This is stated in the market review of the Ukrainian Horticulture magazine.
Uzbekistan became the leader among the suppliers of cherries in Ukraine (45.3%). In second place is Greece, followed by Moldova and a dozen other countries.
As we reported earlier, last season Uzbekistan occupied Ukraine's niche in the Italian market, because the latter had nothing to offer for export.
Despite the difficulties, Ukraine mainly exports cherries from stone fruits, and cherry producers should increasingly focus on exports, says Maria Lakeeva, an analyst at the Berries of Ukraine association.
