Purchase prices for feed barley are growing in Ukraine
Purchase prices for feed barley in Ukraine have finally resumed their growth and reached the level of prices for feed corn, but remain $ 20 / t lower than for feed wheat.
Since the beginning of the season, as of October 8, Ukraine has exported 3,912,000 tons of barley, which is 28% faster than last year and almost corresponds to the total export volume in the previous season of 4,230,000 tons.
According to analysts' estimates, another 1 million tons of barley remain free for export to Ukraine, but producers activate its sales only in the spring after sowing spring barley.
Last week, the Turkish agency TMO purchased at a tender 310 thousand tons of feed barley for delivery in October at an average price of $ 315.4 / t CFR, which is $ 10.6 / t higher than the purchase price at the previous tender on September 21, by $ 15.4 / t – the tender price on September 7 and $ 30.4 / t – the purchase price of the tender dated August 20.
The prices of the offers, in comparison with the previous trades, significantly increased and were in the range of $ 316.5-347 / t CFR, which confirms the upward trend in prices.
In Ukraine, purchase prices for barley increased over the week in ports by 100-200 UAH / t to 7500-7700 UAH / t or 253-255 $ / t due to a shortage of proposals from producers engaged in harvesting late crops and sowing winter crops.
