More than 60 tons of dangerous SVR were taken out for disposal from Poltava region
More than 60 tons of hazardous chemical plant protection products were taken from the territory of the Poltava region for disposal.
This was reported by the press service of the Poltava Regional State Administration with reference to the Deputy Chairman of the Regional State Administration Yevgeny Grekov.
“They cleared the territory where these substances were stored in Stukalovka of the Grebenkovsky community, Ternivshchyna of the Lubensky community, Grabov of the Orzhitsky community, collecting a total of 35 tons for disposal. In addition, they took out 27 tons of materials from Novoorekhovka of the Romodan community. Having examined each of 18 settlements of 8 communities of Lubensky and Mirgorodsky districts, where these substances were available, the specialists of the State Emergency Service, attracted by the contractor, found that there are more than 60 tons of chemical plant protection products in the territory of Poltava region. Approximately the same amount of hazardous substances still remains to be disposed of,” said Yevgeny Grekov.
According to him, last year's work was financed from the regional fund for environmental protection. The Regional State Administration plans to allocate funds from the eco-fund for relevant activities for 2022 as well, in order to completely close the issue of cleaning the region from hazardous substances that have remained ownerless for years, in dilapidated premises left after business entities ceased their activities.
Evgeny Grekov added that they plan to continue the practice last year, so that the extraction of chemical pesticides takes place under the control of local governments.
Recall that violations in the use of plant protection products in 2021 were found in 60% of the farms inspected. Previously, it was reported what nuances should be taken into account when storing pesticides in winter.
