How Seed Treatment Increases Maize Productivity

Agrochemistry

According to the results of a study by the Institute of Plant Protection of the National Academy of Sciences, dressing of corn seeds significantly increases the productivity of the crop, writes The Ukrainian Farmer magazine.

So, in the control variant without seed treatment, the yield of corn was 7.9 t/ha, and in the variants of seed treatment it was 10.2-10.5 t/ha, that is, it exceeded the control by 29.1-32.9%.

“Thus, pre-sowing treatment of corn seeds protects the crop from damage by pests and adverse environmental factors, promotes friendly seedlings, planting density, and higher yields,” said Valentina Sergienko, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences (Institute for Plant Protection of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine).
