The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development intends to allocate funds for the restoration and reconstruction of the main pumping station of the Lower Dniester irrigation system (Odessa region).

This is stated in the message of the Department of Agrarian Policy, Food and Land Relations of the Odessa Regional State Administration.

As noted, during a field meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Regional State Administration, a project of EBRD support for the restoration and reconstruction of the gas pumping station was presented.

"The EBRD is ready to allocate $ 92 million for the implementation of the project, which will expand the irrigated area of ​​the Nizhne-Dniester system from 12 to 40 thousand hectares," the message says.

As specified, the station is designed to supply water for irrigation of land in the Belyaevsky and Ovidiopol districts. On an area of ​​34.4 thousand hectares. Water intake from the Dniester river to the village of Mayaki.

STS needs reconstruction:

- water intake structure;

- pumping and power equipment;

- pressure water pipelines;

Belgorod-Dnestrovsky Interdistrict Water Management Administration and in 2020 has signed agreements with 56 water users.

It is also specified that the Department of Agricultural Policy is implementing 12 projects to restore irrigation in the region, which will systematically increase irrigated fields by another 35 thousand hectares, attract new investors and producers.
