The largest potato storage facility in Ukraine was created in the Kherson region
In the village of Chulakovka, Kherson region, the Adelaide farm has opened a powerful storage facility with an area of 7 thousand square meters for 15 thousand tons of potatoes. The construction of such a structure became a necessity due to an increase in yields and the transition of the economy to a new irrigation system.
Investments in the storage facility amounted to UAH 100 million. The banks provided loans to the EBRD and ProCredit bank.
A room for 8 floor storage chambers assembled from sandwich panels manufactured at a plant in the city of Svetlovodsk, Kirovograd region. They were transported to the construction site by barges.
The head of the farm, Sergey Rybalko, said that the farm resumed and rebuilt irrigation systems, replacing them with circular ones, and also switched to later growing potatoes.
We switch to late planting when potatoes are planted in June and harvested in October. This allows you to get a yield of more than 40 t / ha. Therefore, to store such a crop, a modern storage facility is required, which will allow storing all these potatoes, - said Sergei Rybalko.
Over the next two years, the farm plans to build the second stage of potato storage for 15 thousand tons. And in 2023-2024 - a plant for the processing of French fries and flakes.
Let us remind you that a giant watermelon was grown in the Kherson region.
