Chemistry and fertilizers

Composting is beneficial because it helps, first of all, to reduce the amount of waste, as well as to obtain high-quality fertilizer for the garden and vegetable garden. However, it should not be forgotten that not all waste can be recycled in this way.

Today, many people in their homesteads have a compost box, into which they throw various organic residues, sprinkled with soil, in order to get a valuable and irreplaceable fertilizer - humus next year.

The compost can do a great job of disposal, but it is recommended to put some waste in it.

Therefore, we have compiled a list of 10 types of waste that should not be composted:

Sawdust: If you do not know what tree they are from, it is better not to put them in the compost - they can harm.

Sick plants. Leaves or branches of diseased plants can spoil the entire contents of the compost. They should be destroyed so as not to subsequently transfer fungal and bacterial diseases to other plants that you will fertilize.

Rice and flour products: pasta and bread, cakes, cooked rice. Any of these types of waste in the compost heap creates a favorable environment for unwanted bacteria and various pests.

Vegetable oil. The smell of the oil attracts insects and animals, and it can upset the moisture balance in the compost.

Meat products - bones, blood, meat, fish and animal fats.

Dairy products. Refrain from composting milk, cheese, yogurt and cream and other dairy products. They attract rodents, which can crawl into the compost.

Coated paper and paper for printing. The list includes a variety of booklets, magazines, catalogs, maps and metallized wrapping paper.

Human or animal faeces: too great a health risk. However, this limitation does not apply to chicken, rabbit droppings.

Weeds: Some plants can only be used without roots and seeds, otherwise they will start to sprout in the compost heap.
