Saudi Arabia has strengthened the position of the importer of Ukrainian meat
In 2021, Saudi Arabia has strengthened its position as an importer of Ukrainian meat. It purchased 101,000 tons of meat products worth $190 million, increasing its share in our exports to 22.5%.
This was announced by Bogdan Dukhnitsky, Senior Researcher at the Department of Economics of Agricultural Production and International Integration of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics".
This Middle Eastern country buys only poultry meat from Ukraine. She made her first purchases in 2015. And already in 2020, the export of Ukrainian poultry meat to Saudi Arabia amounted to 83 thousand tons worth $136 million.
The Netherlands, which during 2017-2019 led the top ten largest buyers of Ukrainian meat with a share of 16.1%, holds the second place - with purchases of about 58 thousand tons worth $136 million.
The shares of China (7.2%), the UAE and Slovakia (4.7% each), Azerbaijan (3.9%), Belarus (3.6%) and Kazakhstan (3.5%) are also significant.
In general, these countries brought 2/3 of Ukraine's income from meat sales on the global market, the expert noted.
Throughout 2021, Ukrainian exporters had a ban on the supply of chicken to the European Union from those regions of our country where influenza and poultry were detected, but this did not significantly affect the final indicators, Bohdan Dukhnitsky noted.
A characteristic trend in 2021 was the strengthening of the positions of Ukrainian-made meat products on the international market due to chicken meat. According to Bogdan Dukhnytsky, last year the absolute record for poultry meat exports was updated.
