Ukraine exports large consignments of barley and corn to China

Last week, China agreed to buy large shipments of Ukrainian corn and barley, taking advantage of a pause in rising prices to cover some of its feed grain needs. In general, Ukraine will be able to sell about 5 million tons of corn to China at an expected record harvest in 2021.
“About 4 vessels with French and up to 10 cargoes of Ukrainian barley were booked for shipment in July-August next year,” traders said.
As for corn, according to traders, Chinese buyers ordered supplies of feed grains from Ukraine with shipment in January-April. Volume estimates ranged from a few to 10 or more batches, with one source reporting a total of 1 million tonnes.
