Ukraine proposes to introduce an export duty on the export of food wheat
Assessing the situation, market participants note that now domestic flour producers are beginning to "flatter" the quality of grain when it comes to supplying products to domestic production.
It is noted that today Ukrainian producers of wheat of 2-3 classes supply products with low quality indicators. Therefore, Ukraine cannot meet the demand for high-quality flour.
“I cannot say that this year we did not collect high-quality grain in the appropriate amount, but it can be stated for sure that a large volume of this product was exported. Therefore, supplying products under forward contracts or other forms of agreements, we increasingly see disagreements between the ordered quality of cereals and the delivery of products in fact. And that is precisely why our mucomels and other consumers are sounding the alarm, ”market participants admit in private conversations.
According to experts, if the situation approaches a critical one, one of the options for getting out of it may be the introduction of an export duty on the export of milling wheat. This will provide all processing enterprises with raw materials at reasonable prices. If this fails and there is a shortage of raw materials for processing enterprises, then Ukraine will have to look for additional volumes of milling wheat in foreign markets.
