Agrarian Committee approved the ban of palm oil in dairy products
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy at its meeting on December 15 considered the issue of clarifying and revising certain provisions of the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Improving the Quality of Food Consumed by Children" (No. 5148, second reading).
This is stated in the message of the parliament.
“The bill proposes to amend the Law of Ukraine“ On Milk and Dairy Products ”and clarify that palm oil, along with other fats and proteins of non-dairy origin, is prohibited for use in the production of traditional dairy products. It is also proposed to establish a ban on the use of hydrogenated palm oil and hydrogenated vegetable fats, oil (oil) of sesame seeds and / or oil (oil) of flax seeds, gluten, as well as ingredients produced with the use of pesticides in the production of baby food ", - explained in the VRU ...
In addition, the document proposes to determine the boundary content of trans fatty acids in food products, as well as to oblige market operators when supplying food products to other manufacturers to provide information on the amount of trans fatty acids in such products.
Amendments to the law "On basic principles and requirements of food safety and quality" propose to prohibit the use of hydrogenated palm oil, dry dairy products with the addition of hydrogenated vegetable fats in the production of baby food and traditional food products, confectionery, including cocoa, chocolate and products containing chocolate, ice cream.
After consideration, the representatives of the committee supported the comparative table of the draft prepared for the second reading and recommended the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the specified draft in the second reading and as a whole, with subsequent technical and legal revision.
The committee also supported, before the first reading, the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Clarifying the Provisions for Performing Notarial and Registration Actions in the Process of Obtaining Rights to Land Plots", No. 6199, finalized.
The objective of the bill is to simplify the procedure for concluding transactions for the transfer of ownership of small agricultural land plots, as well as clarify the provisions of legislative acts on the procedure for obtaining ownership of agricultural land plots.
