Ukraine proposes to introduce export duty on wheat
State
To stimulate the creation of added value in the agricultural sector, Ukraine should consider the option of introducing an export duty on grain, for example, in the amount of $ 30 per ton, and of which conditionally $ 25 should be given to support flour exporters. Secretary of the Agrarian Committee, MP Ivan Tchaikovsky wrote about this in a blog on АgroРolit.com.
“The situation is again not easy, but we need to look for options. We can look at different countries. For example, Turkey has created a so-called "free port" zone for itself, located mills in it and actively purchases Ukrainian wheat for processing and then sells the finished flour to other countries. How are we to be? It is possible to consider the option of introducing an export duty, for example, in the amount of $ 30 per ton, and of which conditionally $ 25 should be given to support flour exporters, "noted Ivan Tchaikovsky.
He explained why not all $ 30.
“After all, there is waste in the processing process, so from 1 ton we get less end product. That is, we are talking about export subsidies for value-added producers, ”the MP explained.
