Ukraine has extended the maximum duty on the import of goods from the Russian Federation

Import

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine extended the maximum duty on imports of goods from the Russian Federation for another year. It will be valid until the end of 2022.

In particular, the application of preferential rates of import duties established by the customs tariff of Ukraine (raised to the level of the rates of the WTO most assistance regime) continues until December 31, 2022. They apply to the import of goods, the state of origin of which is the Russian Federation.

The explanatory note states that from January 1, 2026, Russia unilaterally terminated the Agreement on a free trade zone within the CIS in relation to Ukraine, in connection with which an import duty is applied to goods of Ukrainian origin in the amount of the rates of the EAEU Common Customs Tariff. ... On the part of the Russian Federation, other trade prohibitions and restrictions on Ukrainian goods are also applied.

Note that within the framework of the CIS free trade zone between Ukraine and Russia there were zero duties. But after Moscow abolished them, Kiev imposed the tariffs provided by the WTO. They are called preferential, but the maximum possible for partners in the WTO.
