Cheese imports up by more than half in January

In January 2022, Ukraine imported 4.3 thousand tons of cheese, which is 54.3% more than in the first month of 2021.
This is evidenced by the data of the State Customs Service.
$21.7 million was spent on cheese imports, 61.9% more than in January 2021.
Cheese was imported to Ukraine mainly from Poland ($9.5 million), Germany ($4.4 million), the Netherlands ($1.8 million).
The export of Ukrainian cheeses in January 2022 amounted to 310.3 tons, which is 24.4% less than in the same period last year.
In monetary terms, exports brought in $1.2 million, which is 13.7% less than in January 2021.
The largest buyers of domestic cheeses in January 2022 were Moldova ($751 thousand), Kazakhstan ($285.2 thousand), and Georgia ($55.9 thousand).
