Outbreak of African plague recorded in Zaporizhzhya region

In the city of Molochansk, Zaporozhye region, an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) was recorded on the territory of a subsidiary farm.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection of the Zaporozhye region.

“There were 10 pigs at the site of the outbreak, 1 of them died (suspected of having ASF). Specialists from the State Food and Consumer Service conducted a selection of pathological materials for research on ASF in the laboratory. On August 27, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Laboratory of the State Food and Consumer Service established a positive result for ASF,” the message says.

After that, the local State Emergency Anti-Epizootic Commission decided to establish quarantine in Molochansk from 28 August.

Measures were taken in the subsidiary farm to prevent the spread of the virus: quarantine posts were set up, disinfection barriers were installed, the territory and vehicles were disinfected.

Also, yard bypasses were carried out in the zones of protection and supervision, information and explanatory work with the population was carried out.
