Scientists from the University of Göttingen have made ecological insulation for houses from popcorn. This is reported by studyfinds.org.

“Most building insulation materials are made from plastics and mineral fibers, which leads to emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. In addition, plastic insulation is difficult to dispose of. Popcorn solves all these problems and is a good alternative, ”the scientists said.

According to them, popcorn has all the necessary characteristics to become a renewable raw material for building materials. Pressed popcorn falls under the characteristics that require insulation material, namely thermal insulation, fire resistance and water resistance.
