The prevention of bee poisoning is a common task of the authorities, beekeepers and agricultural producers. This was noted by the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky during a meeting of the working group on measures to prevent bee poisoning, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reports.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, the National Police of Ukraine, regional state administrations and profile associations in the field of beekeeping, as well as farmers.

The key issues of the meeting were the discussion of the main causes of bee poisoning, measures to prevent bee poisoning, mechanisms for establishing the fact of bee poisoning, the duties of individuals and business entities using plant protection products.

“It is important that we hold a meeting before the start of the active flight of bees and before the start of the spring sowing campaign and tilling the fields. Now our common goal is to ensure well-coordinated interaction of all participants in the process, which will prevent cases of poisoning and death of bees when pesticides are used to protect plants from harmful organisms. It is important to develop constructive solutions in the expert environment to solve urgent problems of the beekeeping industry. After all, stimulating the development of beekeeping contributes to an increase in the number of apiaries, the traceability of beekeeping products, improving its quality and competitiveness in the domestic and foreign markets. The industry is important for the development of small business,” said Taras Vysotsky.

He recalled that each community has commissions, which include agrarians, beekeepers, specialists from the State Food Service, law enforcement officers, representatives of local governments, which should establish the facts of the death of bees, including initiating issues of punishment for the uncontrolled use of chemicals. . Currently, 1032 such commissions have been established.

In addition, the meeting participants discussed the algorithm of interaction between beekeepers, farmers and local authorities, the obligation to comply with all conditions when processing fields with plant protection products, and issues of responsibility for the improper use of agrochemicals by farmers.

“As a result of the meeting, a number of measures were identified that need to be taken to prevent and minimize the death of bees, in particular: conducting an information campaign to clarify the requirements of the legislation in the ATC, continuing the work of members of the working group to develop changes to the legislation in order to create a favorable climate. conducting activities in the field of beekeeping, continuing cooperation with the National Police and the State Food Service to prevent violations of the law regarding the use of pesticides and agrochemicals,” the message says.
