Agrarians urged the government to resolve the issue of increasing the cost of feed
To alleviate and improve the situation in animal husbandry, it is necessary to resolve the issue of raising the price of feed.
This was announced by the head of the livestock development department A.G.R. Group Vladimir Zolotar.
He noted that, first of all, the situation in the grain market affects the cost of feed. According to the farmer, it would be worthwhile to return to the state support scheme, which was earlier, when aid was allocated for one fodder cow, which was kept by agricultural producers.
“I think that it is not worth tying support to the size of the land that is serviced by livestock (from one hectare), but from the number of animals in maintenance it would be good. This is my personal opinion. In the pandemic, aid was UAH 1,700 per cow. Of course, you need to change the amount in accordance with today's realities, but the approach itself should be returned. This assistance is necessary so that milk producers can buy protein feed, grain fodder, premixes,” Zolotar said.
According to him, it is also worth considering the prospect of a rise in prices for agricultural products due to gas prices. In principle, the main task of the leadership of the relevant ministry and the top leadership of the state is to establish a process for this state support program to work and be effective. So that you can develop. Today we see initiatives from the state to increase the number of cattle, but for most farmers this is not a very effective program. The program will be used by a meager percentage of small producers, and, for example, there is nothing there for legal entities, survive as you want. In order to remedy the situation, it is worth planning state support (including for legal entities) at the level of UAH 5,000 for a fodder cow held. There is statistical reporting, you keep a cow - please, get funds to the enterprise's account twice a year - for development, to reduce the cost of feed.
“As for the program to increase the livestock, let this remain - UAH 30 thousand for each primary cow introduced into the main herd. However, as far as I see, today the question is not about building up, but about keeping animals and planned development of the economy. The basis for the development of animal husbandry today is to give a little support and not interfere with excessive inspections, this will allow the industry to develop normally, predictably,” Vladimir Zolotar comments on the situation.
