Ministry of Agriculture cancels additional procedures for certification of seeds

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, in order to provide agricultural producers with seeds for sowing in Ukraine, cancels additional procedures for certification of seed material during martial law.

The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko announced this in his telegram channel.

According to Order No. 132 of March 1, 2022, the State Center for Certification and Expertise of Agricultural Products must ensure:

– an unhindered process for the sale of seeds and planting material by subjects of seed production and nursery gardening of the 2021 harvest and the residues of previous years required for sowing, without additional certification procedures;

– recognition of foreign certificates for imported seeds without the use of additional certification procedures.

Also, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection is recommended to recognize certificates issued by other countries without phytosanitary examination (analysis), if there is a phytosanitary certificate of the exporting country when clearing seed material.

The order was issued in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On the legal regime of martial law", the Regulations on the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated February 17, 2021 No. 124 and in order to ensure the conduct of spring field work in 2022 during the period situations of martial law.
