Southern regions are in the lead in sowing areas of winter barley in Ukraine

In the last 3 years, the southern regions remain the leaders in the sown area of ​​winter barley in Ukraine, and the area under crops of culture here is growing every year. The three leaders included Odessa, Nikolaev and Kherson regions, where indicators were recorded at the level: 315.41 thousand hectares, 229.09 and 118.48 thousand hectares, respectively. During the period from 2019 to 2021, indicators in these areas increased:

  • in the Odessa region - by 3.7% (11.65 thousand hectares);
  • in the Nikolaev region - by 3.3% (7.51 thousand hectares);
  • in the Dnipropetrovsk region - by 25.5% (30.16 thousand hectares).

In 2020, the Kherson region burst into the top three in terms of sown area under crops, when the indicator increased by 30.16 thousand hectares and displaced the Dnipropetrovsk region, the sown area under winter barley in which also increased in 2021 to 106.7 thousand hectares. .ha.

An increase in the area under winter barley for the period from 2019 to 2021 was noted in 13 regions at a level from 1.1 thousand hectares in the Sumy region to 30.16 thousand hectares in the Kherson region. The average sown area under winter barley in 2021 was 47.13 thousand hectares and was exceeded in six regions, including Kherson, Zaporozhye and Kirovograd.

In other regions of Ukraine, during this period, there was a decrease in the area under crops from 0.6 thousand hectares in the Volyn region to 29.7 in Khmelnitsky.
