Ukrainian inventor has created unique polymer parts for drills

Planting material

Oleksiy Derkach, a teacher-inventor of the Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University, developed parts for seeders from polymer composite, which allow to significantly speed up the operation of the units.

We are talking about the modernization of standard sowing machines. It is known that every 48 hours they have to make a technical stop for lubrication, which lasts 4-4.5 hours. And this is 25 hectares of "idle" - almost 500 hectares of untapped area per season.

Alexey Derkach suggested replacing some metal parts with parts made of polymer composite. For one sowing machine they need 500-700 pieces. This allows you to sow nine thousand hectares a year on time, instead of 4-5, as before.

At one time, even the Ministry of Education and Science was interested in the "composite" project. In 2014, the development was submitted to the award of the Cabinet of Ministers. But the war broke out and funding stopped. In the same year, the authors set a record for Ukraine, and in 2016 they broke it again. Then 17 251 hectares were sown with a sowing complex without stopping for lubrication.

It also turned out that the car with polymer parts is profitable not only technically, but also economically. After all, the grain is sown evenly, sprouts and ripens at the same time. The new technology is already used by almost forty agricultural enterprises and holdings.

By the way, the daughter of the inventor offered to make these parts from recycled plastic.
