The technology of tillage for sowing winter crops should contribute to obtaining uniform seedlings, avoid water and soil erosion, and also be moderately energy-intensive.

This is stated in the material "Evgeny Gumenyuk: winter wheat, hardened by winter frosts and hidden under the snow in winter, gives the best harvest".

For winter crops, Zapad-Agro MHP LLC allocates 41% of the structure of sown areas, of which 22% is allocated for winter wheat (8,568 ha) - this is the most among all crop production enterprises of MHP.

“The predecessors of winter wheat in the production units of the North and West (Lviv region) are soybeans, and in the South - sunflower. The main soil treatment is carried out with disc-shaped units, namely Horsch Tiger, GB DXRV, JD 2700, JD 2720. The next treatment is pre-sowing cultivation and sowing with Horsch PRONTO 9 DC seeders,” notes Evgeny Gumenyuk, chief agronomist.

This year, for the first time, an area of 1054 hectares, which is about 12% of all crops, was sown at the production divisions North and West with the Mzuri planter using the Strip-till technology. As is known, this technology is less energy-intensive and avoids water and soil erosion.

“Each field is a blank canvas. Before sowing and tillage, we study the field from year to year, and do everything to make it give the best return,” Gumenyuk says.

To date, no negative factors affecting plants have been observed. And if the weather conditions continue to be typical for winter, there will be no reason for the death or freezing of crops.
