In Ukraine, the procedure for registering new plant varieties will be simplified

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted for the basis of the draft law No. 3680-d to simplify the examination procedures, registration of plant varieties and circulation of seeds.
The bill was supported by 260 people's deputies.
“Every time communicating with farmers on this topic, I understand how important it is. We all know that the current procedure for state registration of seeds provides for a number of bureaucratic procedures that clearly do not make life easier for our farmers. As an example, in order to get new varieties of plants on the Ukrainian market, you need to go through 3-4 years of various registration procedures. The process is unambiguously long and cumbersome. It is necessary to simplify this bureaucratic mechanism, which has become rusty for a long time," – said the People's Deputy Nikolai Kucher on his Facebook page.
He added that the voted bill is aimed at deregulating legislation in this area and harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with European one. As the main bill, it reduces the formal examination from 3 months to 20 days.
