The slowdown in the growth of quotations for winter wheat is caused by improved sowing conditions
Wheat on world exchanges yesterday traded in the neutral zone amid improved conditions for sowing winter crops in the main exporting countries and low export demand.
Dry and warm weather in the United States and Ukraine will accelerate the rate of sowing winter wheat, and sufficient reserves of soil moisture will contribute to the emergence of good seedlings.
On the US exchanges, wheat traded diversified and with minimal changes amid accelerated planting and poor exports.
According to the NASS USDA, as of September 26, 34% of the planned acreage in the United States was planted with winter wheat, which is 2% more than the 5-year average.
Wheat exports from the United States fell by half to 286 thousand tons over the week, and in total in the season reached 8 million tons, which is 13.5% less than last year's rates.
December futures in the US fell yesterday:
- by $ 0.55 / t to $ 265.3 / t for soft winter SRW wheat in Chicago,
- by $ 0.36 / t to $ 264.8 / t for hard winter HRW wheat in Kansas City.
- Durum spring HRS-wheat in Minneapolis rose in price by $ 2.02 / t to $ 338.6 / t.
At the Chicago SWOT, December futures for Black Sea wheat yesterday also rose by $ 1.25 / t to $ 315.25 / t.
Ukraine in 2021/22 MY as of September 27 exported 7.953 million tons of wheat out of the forecasted for export of 24 million tons, which is almost in line with last year's rates. As of September 20, 18% of the planned area or 1.22 million hectares were sown with winter wheat.
Purchase prices for purchasing wheat in Ukrainian ports remain at the level of 8650-8750 UAH / t or 285-288 $ / t, while the demand for feed wheat is decreasing.
December wheat futures on the Parisian Euronext remained at 251.25 € / t or 295.98 $ / t yesterday.
In the near future, producers will speed up the sowing of winter crops, which will increase the pressure on wheat prices for both the current harvest and the harvest in 2022.
