The Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine (SMPU) appealed to the President of Ukraine with a proposal to establish a preferential gas tariff for milk processing enterprises in the amount of UAH 32 thousand / 1 thousand square meters. It will make it possible to continue the production of dairy products, and to avoid a food crisis in the country.

The catastrophically high gas tariffs, which are planned to be introduced from January 1, 2022, threaten to stop not only individual enterprises producing dairy products, but also the entire dairy industry, the SMPU noted.

Some enterprises have already reduced the purchase of milk from agricultural enterprises.

“This means that the damage will be incurred not only by processing, but also by milk producers. They will not be able to temporarily turn off the cows and take a break, ”the SMPU stressed. - The shutdown of dairies for them will mean that milk will either have to be poured out, or prices set that do not cover the costs of its production. This situation cannot last long. "
