How to distinguish high-quality wine from low-quality wine published

Food

The State Food and Consumer Service together with the corporation "Ukrvinprom" to protect Ukrainian consumers from low-quality wine products, including imported ones, resembles the rules for the selection of alcoholic beverages. This was reported by the State Food and Consumer Service.

When choosing alcoholic beverages, the labeling must comply with the Law of Ukraine "On information for consumers about food" and must contain the following information:

general and proper name of the product;

the name and location of the food market operator responsible for the information on the alcoholic beverage;

mark for products and services;

the geographical name of the place of manufacture of the product, if the name of the manufacturer does not reflect the location of the enterprise.

We also want to note that the minimum shelf life is included in the list of mandatory information on food products.

Alcoholic beverages must be labeled with their place of origin. Where the indicated country or place of origin of the food is not the same as the country or place of origin of the main ingredient, appropriate information should be provided.

“When choosing a wine, we recommend giving preference to wine products of domestic origin. In our country, grapes are cultivated ten times less, because more thorough processing, as a result of favorable climatic conditions, is not needed. Ukrainian wines are natural and unique, very close to organic ones, since they contain a minimum total amount of sulfites, which is important for human health. Of course, we advise Ukrainian consumers to carefully study the information on the counter-labels of wine products, pay attention to the information about the name and location of the manufacturer or importer, the indicated aging periods, etc. ", - says Vladimir Kucherenko, General Director of Ukrvinprom Corporation.

If you find a low-quality product or does not have the necessary labeling, you can contact the State Food Service or its territorial bodies and protect your rights in several ways. This can be done in writing (Kiev, B. Grinchenko st., 1), by e-mail (info@dpss.gov.ua), through the "hot line" (tel. (044) 364 77 80, (050) 230 04 28) or a chat bot working in the telegram messenger.
