Ukraine significantly increased the import of pasta
According to preliminary estimates, in 2021, the share of domestic production of pasta will take 66% on the Ukrainian market, and 34% of imported products.
In the last 5 years, there has been a decrease in the production of pasta in Ukraine. So, according to forecasts, in 2021, about 67.7 thousand tons of this product will be produced in Ukraine, which is 7% lower than the same indicator last year and 23% lower than 5 years ago.
“At the same time, there is a tendency for the growth of imports of pasta. According to preliminary estimates, in 2021, about 49.1 thousand tons of this product will be imported to Ukraine, which is 7% less than last year, but at the same time it is 82% higher than in 2017. I am glad that according to the results of 50% of imports falls on Italy, which is famous for its products and is the "lawmaker" in this industry. This is followed by delivery from Turkey (21% of the imported volume), Poland (20%), Latvia (2%) and China (2%) ”, - comments Svetlana Lytvyn, analyst at UCAB.
Ukraine also carries out export deliveries of pasta, but they are significantly inferior to imported ones. According to preliminary estimates, 5.4 thousand tons of this product will be exported in 2021, which is 48% more than last year. For 10 months of 2021, the main buyers of Ukrainian pasta were Venezuela (37% of Ukrainian exports), Moldova (21%), Lithuania (7%), Togo (7%) and Latvia (4%).
