War in Ukraine will lead to a critical balance of grain

The balance of grains in the world markets will be extremely tight, even in the current season, given the restrictions on exports and logistical difficulties.
This was reported to AgroPortal.ua by Svetlana Malysh, senior analyst of the agricultural markets of the Black Sea region of the Refinitiv company.
“Now there is no grain market in the Black Sea region, namely Ukraine-Russia. In Ukraine, the infrastructure is paralyzed, the sowing of spring crops is under threat, the production prospects for the new season are very vague,” notes Svetlana Malysh.
According to her, as a result of the war, 30-33 million tons of wheat from Russia and 15 from Ukraine could be withdrawn from the world grain balance. This will lead to a break in supply chains, food shortages, further price increases in all markets.
“At the moment, some traders avoid buying Russian grain, sanctions make it difficult to make payments,” says Svetlana Malysh.
