Plant growing
The new potato variety Red Fox has a very interesting name and is also the first potato ever grown on Prince Edward Island. This is reported by potatopro.com.
The Potato Council acquired the rights to the new variety from the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Breeding Program in Fredericton, N.B. and is now bringing it to the commercial market. Known as Red Fox, this variety has been waiting for several years to enter the market.
This variety has an attractive skin and very good yield potential. Why Red Fox? Because this beauty grows in the red earth, besides, many different species of foxes live on the island.
Breeders developing these new varieties say it is roughly one of the most successful varieties in years.
