Microgreen farms are quickly closing in Ukraine
Plant growing
In a big city, growing a microgreen could be quite a profitable business, but in a small city it is difficult to turn it into a business. Moreover, many residents of such cities have their own vegetable gardens, greenhouses, and their own greenery. This was told by Evgeny Obukhovsky, a microgreen manufacturer from Glukhov in the Sumy region, writes agronews.ua.
“For such products, Glukhov does not have a great demand and sufficient volumes of orders to do only this. Yes, and there are people in other cities who are engaged in this, and have large capacities for growing. Some more cash investments are needed. But at the same time, I know that a fairly large percentage of people (about 6-7 out of 10) who start a small business on a microgreen, close farms, sell equipment, because they are faced with the fact that there is no sales market, "comments Obukhovsky.
Therefore, the farmer has set himself the goal of popularizing microgreen among other people. And he started with his friends, many also began to grow microgreens at home.
“You can turn ordinary salads, pasta, meat, even ordinary sandwiches into something interesting and unusual. Everyone can feel like a chef, just a bit of imagination is needed. There is nothing complicated in this matter. Now all information is available on the Internet, there are specialized pages in social networks and chats where people share their experiences. It is also not necessary to buy equipment - you can make it yourself or even use window sills and an ordinary table lamp, ”the manufacturer adds.
According to him, in order to avoid problems with plant growth, you need to take seeds in those places that you trust yourself and people.
“First, I germinated sunflowers and peas, then I added other crops. Now I grow about ten different crops - those that I like the most: sunflowers, peas, mustard, amaranth, basil, mint, lemon balm, several types of cabbage and radishes. In general, about 45 different crops can be grown on the microgreen, ”emphasized Evgeny Obukhovsky.
