One of the leading raspberry producers in Europe predicts a rise in prices in 2022
Serbia, the second raspberry producer in Europe (after Poland), predicts a rise in prices this year.
In 2021, prices for frozen raspberries in Serbia on the domestic market were 3.4-3.6 euros/kg, for export - 5.1-7.6 euros/kg. In 2022, as predicted, purchase prices may even increase to 6.8 euros/kg. However, it depends on many factors.
“The price of raspberries last year was satisfactory, and this year it will be even higher. Prices for material and technical resources have risen sharply. Fertilizers have risen in price several times, and this is not the end. The current drought has had a negative impact on the growth of shoots, which will certainly lead to a decrease in the raspberry harvest in 2022,” said Dobrivoj Radovic, President of the Raspberry Society of Serbia.
According to official data, raspberries in Serbia occupy 24,000 hectares. According to Mr. Radović, commercial plantings amount to 14,000 hectares. The gross harvest of raspberries in 2021 amounted to 70 thousand tons.
The drought led to a decrease in yield: on many plantations it was only a fourth or fifth of the potential. Where there were optimal conditions and the soil was moist, bountiful harvests were harvested.
Dobrivoj Radović also noted a good price for blackberries - 3–3.6 EUR/kg.
