There is a common misconception in agriculture that silage baling is only suitable for small farms. However, modern professional balers with high throughput and productivity are on the market today.

This was reported by the press service of the Pöttinger company on its Facebook page.

“Our own studies have shown that it is quite possible for Ukrainian enterprises to harvest 60 tons of grass silage per hour, or 38 tons of haylage. By combining a baler with a wrapping machine, this amount can be harvested by one and one tractor driver. Of course, hourly productivity should not be multiplied by shift hours. At those enterprises where we worked a 10-hour shift, the productivity of the workpiece reached 400-450 tons, and not 600: due to stops, breaks, lunch, refilling the mesh and film, and other downtime. With such productivity, 200-280 hectares of alfalfa can be harvested in the optimal time,” the publication notes.

Recall that improper forage harvesting equipment provokes weight loss of up to 10%.
