Seaports continue to reduce the backlog in grain transshipment
Operators in the seaports of Ukraine for 10 months of this year handled 120.87 million tons of cargo, which is 11.25 million tons or 8.5% less than the same period last year.
This is stated in the message of the State Enterprise "Administration of the seaports of Ukraine".
As noted, the negative dynamics (the rate of decline compared to the same periods in 2020) of cargo handling in seaports is gradually and monthly decreasing: from 20.4% in the first quarter, 16.5% in the first half of the year, 10% in 9 months, 8.5% – at the end of 10 months.
“Most of all in 10 months the ports handled grain cargo and ore – 37.07 million tons (-6%) and 31 million tons (-16.8%), respectively. Transshipment of oil products increased by 55.9% and amounted to 1.52 million tons,” the ministry said.
According to the USPA, the transshipment of grain for 9 months of the year amounted to 31.6 million tons (-10.3%).
Also, during the reporting period, containers handled 840,289 TEU, which is 3.4% less than in the same period in 2020.
For the sum of 10 months 2021 indicators of 5 ports exceed the volume of transshipment last year – Chernomorsk 19.82 million tons (+ 2%), NSR Olvia 3.8 million tons (+ 12.3%), Izmail port 3.19 million tons (+ 19.3% ), Reni port 985.97 thousand tons (+ 46.7%), Ust-Dunaisk port 40.6 thousand tons 2.25 times.
The ports of Mariupol and Odesa almost managed to achieve their indicators last year. The cargo turnover of the port of Odesa amounted to 18.5 million tons (-4.9%), the port of Mariupol – 5.72 million tons (-2.6%).
