The Swiss will recycle agricultural waste in Ukraine
The Swiss chemical concern Clariant, which specializes in investments in the construction of enterprises operating on alternative energy sources, is interested in Ukraine as a place for investment and biofuels. This is reported by Inventure with reference to the data of the people's deputy, a member of the agrarian committee Vadim Ivchenko.
He noted that biofuels and biochemicals produced from agricultural waste play a key role in reducing our carbon footprint. Such investments and the successful commercialization of new technology from Clariant, in addition to significantly reducing greenhouse gases, will provide great economic opportunities for the country's agricultural business. Vadim Ivchenko gave the example of the Clariant agricultural waste plant in Podar (Romania), which produces more than 50 thousand tons of cellulosic ethanol per year. It employs up to 800 workers, and contracts have been signed with more than 300 local farmers to ensure the supply of the necessary raw materials.
“We presented our proposals, and in response received a “homework ”, after which the company intends to start implementing investment projects. Yes, this is only the first meeting, but the signals that we have heard from the management of the company give us the right to hope for a positive result of the negotiations,” Vadym Ivchenko stressed.
Vadim Ivchenko added that the resulting cellulosic ethanol is almost a second-generation carbon biofuel. In addition to being used as a simple fuel blending solution, its production provides additional opportunities for further applications in bio-based chemicals and clean aviation fuels.
