The cost of grain drying in Ukraine increased by 3-4 times - the results of the 2021 season
Prices for drying corn grain increased 3-4 times. At the same time, in 2021, the grain moisture content of many farmers in some places was three times higher than the norm.
This is stated in the material "Results of the agricultural season 2021: the rise in the cost of resources, the land market, the results."
“For someone who deals with corn, this issue was very relevant. The cost of 1 ton-percent increased by 3-4 times. When compared, in 2020 the price was within UAH 35, and in 2021 it reached UAH 120 per ton-percent,” said Taras Kornienko, Deputy Chief Agronomist of the Agrain Agrogroup.
Despite this situation, the farm is satisfied with the results of the 2021 harvest, as they harvested corn with an average yield of approximately 10.5 t/ha, including taking into account the sandy soils of the Chernihiv region.
“For the second year in a row, we have been intensively introducing elements of precision farming, using precision seeding machines, and carrying out separate feeding of corn. And this season we got pretty decent results - corn showed within 11-12 t/ha with a moisture content of 25-26%,” said the deputy chief agronomist.
In the agricultural holding A.G.R. Group, owned by Misak Khidiryan, is also satisfied with the results of the year. Although there were certain problems in some areas due to weather conditions, in particular early September frosts.
“Corn in the test weight came out at 8.2 t / ha, this is taking into account the fact that a significant part of the crops in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions. placed on sandy soils. In the southern cluster, in the Kherson region, where soybeans and corn were grown under irrigation, the figures are higher. Although the corn received water stress there,” said Alexander Arakelyan, head of the agronomic department of the company.
