Prices on the Ukrainian markets also rose, although they remain somewhat lower. Thus, the price of cabbage at the Lviv market Shuvar rose to 17 UAH/kg (+6.2 UAH/kg since mid-January), and carrots - up to 12.5 UAH/kg (+4.5 UAH/kg). The cost of cabbage at the Nezhdannaya market is 14-16 UAH/kg, and carrots - up to 13 UAH/kg. At the Kiev "Capital" market for vegetables, they ask for 16.5 and 15 UAH / kg, respectively.
According to economist Oleg Pendzin, due to the lack of vegetable stores in the winter, the supply of vegetables to the domestic market of Ukraine decreases, which provokes their rise in price.
“When it comes to the dynamics of prices for vegetables and, in particular, borscht, we must understand that a large volume of these products is produced in households. And there is a catastrophic lack of storage facilities for their storage in Ukraine,” the economist said.
