Grain transportation along the Dnieper increased by 4.1%

Cargo transportation along the Dnieper in January amounted to 239.1 thousand tons, which is 34% less (or 122.7 thousand tons) than in the same period in 2021.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, referring to the data of the River Information Service of Ukraine (RIS) of the Delta-Lotsman branch.

The main share of cargo is grain cargo, the volume of transportation of which increased by 4.1% and amounted to 142.8 thousand tons.

In second place is construction cargo. The volume of transportation decreased by 54.2% compared to last year and amounted to 85.2 thousand tons. In January 2022, metal transportation volumes amounted to 11.1 thousand tons, which is 71.3% less than in the same period in 2021.

During January, 186 flights were made against 340 flights in 2021 (-45.3%).

Recall that daily during the inter-navigation period, the rivers are capable of transporting up to 11 thousand tons of grain. River transport also reduces the carbon footprint.
