The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has supported the resolution on the liberalization of the transportation of oversized and heavy cargo, which, in particular, is being implemented by European standards for weight and size restrictions.
This is discussed in the message of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
“Last year, we launched a large-scale reform of the weight and size control system. We managed to launch about 100 WIM sites and increase the administrative responsibility for congestion. As a result, the number of violations, compared with previous years, decreased by more than 30 times.
The next step is the transition to European standards for weight and size restrictions. For a long time, the technical characteristics of Ukrainian roads have been an obstacle to this. The vast majority was built back in Soviet times and was not designed for modern loads,” said the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.
In particular, the adopted resolution details and clarifies the maximum allowable axle loads depending on the number of axles and center distance.
