Warming reduces the nitrogen content in the leaves
Land
Under the influence of climatic changes, the C/N ratio in the leaves of fruit trees changes towards a decrease in nitrogen.
Irina Zlenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology of the Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University, talks about this in the journal "Ukrainian Horticulture".
Due to such changes in the chemical composition of the leaves, leaf-eating insects develop faster, and some species have even adapted to compensate for the lack of protein by increasing the amount of food.
This applies to the nutrition of both adults and insects that can eat whole leaves. Thus, physiological changes in cultivated plants affect all components of agrocenoses.
