Mushrooms as a business: how a farm works and how much you can earn on it
In Ukraine, the celebration of Easter in 2021 falls on the night of May 1–2, and Lent will last until May 1. This is not only a time of spiritual enrichment, but also a chance for some businessmen to increase their income. In particular, this also applies to farms that grow mushrooms.
As noted in the story of The Page's partner, the Persha Shpalta program, although mushrooms are a popular product, the demand among Ukrainians is still lower than in Europe.

How the mushroom business works in Ukraine
At the same time, a mushroom business can be built in Ukraine. Moreover, it is not always necessary to take out loans for this. The company can provide its own modernization at the expense of profit, said the owner of the mushroom farm "Ukrainian Champignons" Mykola Lelet.
Lelet's farm appeared more than 20 years ago, it has 21 premises, and every year a harvest of 1.5 thousand tons of mushrooms ripens on it. The farmer estimates his business at $ 1-1.2 million.
In particular, the farm supplies mushrooms to almost all supermarkets in Kiev. Also, such an enterprise, which is located in the village, helps to create jobs. Moreover, workers from all over Ukraine work there.
At the same time, there is a lot of competition on the Ukrainian market, because it is not at all difficult to find cheap mushrooms. However, manufacturers are still optimistic.
“I think there are prospects in this area. Because Ukrainians do not reach the European level of consumption. In Europe, this is an average of 4 kilograms per person, in Ukraine - a maximum of 1.5 kilograms, ”explained the owner of the“ Ukrainian Champignons ”.
Also, the farm is constantly improving. So, the premises are equipped with automatic climate control systems, and mushrooms are not sown, but a special mixture is used.
In addition, Lelet said that he plans to sell not only champignons, but also to grow Asian and European mushrooms for sale on the Ukrainian market.
