Onion prices are rising in the wholesale markets of Ukraine
Most Ukrainian onion farmers do not have equipped storage facilities. That is why they try to sell their products immediately after the harvest, or before the first frost. During such periods, the supply of onions on the market is quite high and the prices are low. By the middle of autumn, the amount of Ukrainian-made onions on the market is decreasing, and prices for the product are growing.
At the most wholesale farmer's market in the country in the village of Velyki Kopani, Kherson, prices for yellow onions increased by the hryvnia – up to 8 hryvnias per kilogram in just one day. Large onions are generally served at UAH 10-11 per kilogram. The rest of the vegetables this week practically did not rise in price.
In particular, prices for borsch set products remain stable. Farmers sell potatoes and beets for an average of UAH 6 per kilogram. Prices for carrots range from 5 to 6 UAH per kilogram.
The wholesale cost of tomatoes grown in the open field, while starting at 10 UAH per kilogram. At the same time, farmers sell greenhouse tomatoes in Velikiye Kopany at UAH 20-25 per kilogram. This is the price range for all types of tomatoes – red, pink, and yellow.
Wholesale prices for sweet peppers range from 5 to 15 UAH per kilogram, cucumbers cost 25 UAH per kilogram, zucchini – 18 UAH per kilogram, and eggplants – from 10 to 15 UAH per kilogram.
