Craft cheesemakers suffer from curd smuggling
Business
Ukrainian craft cheesemakers are hindered by the import of cheese from Europe, including "black".
This was emphasized by the head of the Guild of Craft Cheesemakers Irina Demyanuk.
“We are not included in the price of imported cheese, because raw materials are becoming more expensive, there is less of it,” she said. “Therefore, I wanted the state to control the import of cheese, in particular, contraband.”
According to Irina Demyanuk, small cheese producers need support from the state.
“Not necessarily, it should be financial support, and, for example, tax exemption,” she said. “In particular, in 2012-2017, we, as milk processors, were exempt from VAT.”
