In Ivano-Frankivsk region, nuns created a mushroom farm

Business

On the basis of the Hoshevsky monastery in Ivano-Frankivsk region, the nuns were able to create a social enterprise where mushrooms are grown.

ShoTam writes about this.

The nuns set up a mushroom growing farm in the village of Goshevo, where they had a room.

“Our mycelium gives about 3.5 tons of champignon per harvest. In a year we grow them 3-4 times. The period of our labor with mushrooms depends on the church calendar, ”noted Sister Vinkentia Kozak

According to Sister Vinkentia, they now have many regular clients. Mostly these are those who bought mushrooms in the beginning, and they do so to this day. A few mushrooms are left at the monastery. We take another part to Lviv to the market.

Everyone can come to the monastery in Goshev (Y. Lesiva street, 52) and buy mushrooms right there. Regarding prices on the farm, they are always guided by the wholesale price on the Lviv market "Shuvar" and do not overstate it. The last time the price was about 40 UAH / kg of the largest mushroom.

In general, social entrepreneurship has helped many to understand that monasticism is about more than prayer. Yes, she always comes first. But nuns work to provide for themselves and to give part of the funds to the needs of other people.
